Obverse description Laureate, draped bust of Emperor Trajan facing right, rendered in bold provincial relief with characteristically strong facial features. The laureate wreath is prominently depicted crowning the emperor's head, with drapery visible at the truncation of the bust. A Greek imperial legend surrounds the effigy, reading ΑΥΤ ΝΕΡ ΤΡΑΙΑΝΟϹ ΚΑΙϹΑΡ ϹΕΒ ΓΕΡΜ, identifying the emperor by his titles of Caesar, Augustus, and Germanicus. The style is consistent with provincial bronze coinage struck at Tium in Bithynia during the early Trajanic period.
