Reverse description A tetrastyle temple depicted in elevation, with four columns supporting an entablature and a pediment bearing a central disc or medallion ornament. Within the intercolumniation, Demeter stands facing, her head turned to the right, resting her right hand upon a tall torch and holding ears of grain in her left hand. The civic legend of the free city of Amisus, together with the local era date ΕΤ ϹΜΑ (year 241, corresponding to 209–210 AD), appears in the exergual and surrounding field.
