Obverse description Confronted busts: laureate, draped, and cuirassed bust of Caracalla to right, seen from the rear, facing the draped bust of Plautilla to left. The two effigies are rendered in a vis-à-vis arrangement characteristic of provincial coinage celebrating the imperial marriage. The surrounding legend in Greek identifies both rulers. The coin exhibits a heavy green patina consistent with prolonged burial.
