| Obverse description | Laureate, draped, and cuirassed bust of Emperor Philip I (Philip the Arab) facing right, seen from the rear, rendered in the typical Alexandrian provincial style. The imperial effigy is depicted with military dress, conveying both civic and martial authority. The surrounding field carries a Greek legend identifying the emperor by his full imperial titulature. The flan is irregular and the surfaces show characteristic green patination consistent with Alexandrian bronze coinage of the mid-third century AD. |
