| Obverse description | Bare-headed and laureate bust of Emperor Marcus Aurelius facing right, rendered in the characteristic Alexandrian provincial style with a bearded portrait and wreath of laurel leaves visible atop the head. The effigy displays the emperor's well-known physiognomy with curling beard and hair, typical of his mature portraiture. The Greek legend encircles the bust along the periphery of the flan. The flan is notably broad and irregular, with softness of strike consistent with Alexandrian bronze coinage of the period. |
