Obverse description Bare-shouldered, laureate bust of Marcus Aurelius facing right, with short beard rendered in fine curling strands typical of Antonine portraiture. The emperor wears a wreath of laurel leaves secured at the brow, depicted with bold, deeply struck relief characteristic of Alexandrian provincial coinage. The Greek legend runs clockwise around the periphery, partially visible on the flan. The portrait displays the mature, bearded features of Marcus Aurelius as established in official imperial iconography of the 160s AD.
