| Obverse description | Bare-headed bust of Marcus Aurelius facing right, with traces of drapery on the left shoulder, rendered in the typical Alexandrian provincial style. The emperor is depicted with his characteristic full, curly beard and thick wavy hair, faithfully reproducing the imperial portrait type of his early reign. The Greek legend runs around the periphery of the flan, partially visible despite wear. The portrait displays strong modelling of the facial features, consistent with Antonine-period Alexandrian coinage. |

| Reverse description | Tyche, the personification of Fortune and tutelary goddess of Alexandria, seated left upon a throne, wearing a kalathos (basket crown) on her head. Her right hand rests upon a rudder, symbolising guidance and fate, while her left arm supports a cornucopia overflowing with abundance. The regnal year date appears in the field. The composition is typical of Alexandrian civic reverse types, conveying divine protection over the city. |
