| Obverse description | Draped and cuirassed bust of Marcus Aurelius, laureate, facing right and seen from the rear, with paludamentum over the shoulder. The obverse legend runs around the bust identifying the emperor as Marcus Aurelius Antoninus Augustus. The portraiture follows the Alexandrian provincial style of the early joint reign, rendered in high relief characteristic of Egyptian civic coinage. |
