| Obverse description | Radiate, draped, and cuirassed bust of Emperor Gordian III facing right, rendered in three-quarter frontal view, with a gorgoneion (Medusa head apotropaic emblem) prominently displayed on the cuirass. The surrounding Greek legend reads ΑΥΤ Κ Μ ΑΝΤ ΓΟΡΔΙΑΝΟϹ ϹΕΒ with the abbreviation Π Π flanking the bust, denoting his imperial titulature. The portraiture reflects the provincial workshop style characteristic of Cilician civic bronze coinage of the mid-third century AD. |
