| Obverse description | Laureate head of Emperor Domitian facing right, rendered in the provincial Greek style with bold, somewhat coarse engraving characteristic of the Samian mint. The imperial effigy displays clearly defined laurel wreath, strong facial features, and a short neck truncation. The Greek legend encircles the bust, reading ΑΥΤΟΚΡΑΤΩΡ ΔΟΜΙΤΙΑΝΟϹ ΚΑΙϹΑΡ ϹΕΒΑϹΤΟϹ ΓΕΡΜΑΝ, identifying him as Emperor Domitian Caesar Augustus Germanicus. |
