Reverse description Turreted Tyche, the personification of the city's fortune, seated to the left upon a throne. She holds a cornucopia in her left arm, symbolic of abundance, while her right arm rests upon a rudder standing upright atop a small head of Thalassa (the sea goddess), also oriented to the left. This iconographic combination of Tyche with the rudder and Thalassa underscores Amisus's identity as a prosperous free maritime city. The reverse legend ΑΜΙϹΟΥ ΕΛΕΥΘΕΡΑϹ ΕΤ ϹΙΔ proclaims the city's status as a free city and records the civic year ϹΙΔ (214 of the Amisene era), corresponding to 182–184 AD.
