Obverse description Laureate and draped bust of Emperor Claudius facing left, rendered in the provincial Greek style. The effigy displays the characteristic portraiture of Claudius with a wreath of laurel upon the head and drapery visible at the shoulder truncation. The surrounding circular legend in Greek characters reads ΤΙ ΚΛΑΥΔΙΟΣ ΚΑΙΣΑΡ ΣΕΒΑΣΤΟΣ ΓΕΡΜΑΝΙΚΟΣ, identifying the emperor by his titles. The portrait occupies a large portion of the flan, consistent with the monumental scale of this Bithynian civic issue.
