| Obverse description | Radiate, draped, and cuirassed bust of Emperor Trajan Decius facing right, portrayed in three-quarter rear view, with the radiate crown rendered in bold relief above the imperial portrait. | Reverse description | Zeus enthroned to the left upon a high-backed throne, his body draped in himation, extending his right hand to hold a small Nike figure and grasping a long sceptre upright in his left hand. The composition follows the canonical Pheidian type widely employed on provincial bronzes of Phrygia. The ethnic legend of Synnada is distributed around the field within a beaded border, attesting to the local civic pride of the issuing community. |
