Obverse description Draped and diademed bust of Orbiana facing right, portrayed in the provincial Greek style typical of Asia Minor civic coinage. The effigy displays the empress with elaborately rendered hair and a diadem, with drapery visible at the truncation. A central test hole is present on the flan. The obverse legend reads ΒΑΡΒΙΑ ΟΡΒΙΑΝΗ ϹΕΒ (Barbia Orbiana Augusta), disposed around the portrait in Greek characters.

The reverse legend ΕΦΕϹΙΩΝ ΠΡΩΤΩΝ ΑϹΙΑϹ (of the Ephesians, first of Asia) encircles the design, asserting Ephesus's prestigious rank as the leading city of the province of Asia.
