| Reverse description | Zeus Nikephoros enthroned to the left, depicted in a stately, frontal composition with his body turned slightly. In his extended right hand he holds a small statuette of Nike, and in his left hand he grasps a long sceptre. The reverse legend identifying the strategos Nikostratos and the civic ethnic of the Apolloniates is distributed around the field. The style is consistent with provincial bronze coinage of Caria under the Severan dynasty, with the deity rendered in the classical tradition of civic coinage from this region. |
