Obverse description Radiate, draped, and cuirassed bust of the emperor Philip I (Philip the Arab) facing right, presented in three-quarter front view. The radiate crown is clearly rendered with pronounced spikes, and the paludamentum is visible at the shoulder. The encircling Greek legend occupies the field around the imperial effigy, with the abbreviation Π Π (Pompeiopolis) appearing in the lower field flanking the bust.
