| Reverse description | Apollo-Tyrimnaios, the principal civic deity of Blaundus, depicted on horseback advancing to the right. The god is shown holding a patera in his extended right hand and carrying a double axe (labrys) over his left shoulder, attributes emblematic of this distinctly Lydian cult. The composition fills the flan with dynamic equestrian energy typical of provincial bronzes from the Sardis conventus. The reverse legend naming the strategos Kl. Valerianos and the ethnic ΒΛΑΥΝΔΕΩΝ encircles the type, with the Δ rendered with notably elongated serifs as a die-cutter's idiosyncrasy. |
