Obverse description Bare-necked laureate bust of Marcus Aurelius facing right, with characteristic beard and strong facial features rendered in the Alexandrian provincial style. The legend runs around the periphery, partially visible, giving the emperor's name and titles in Greek characters. The portrait exhibits the naturalistic modelling typical of Antonine-era coinage, with the wreath of laurel clearly delineated. The flan is irregular and slightly convex, with the legend partially off-flan at the upper left.

Reverse description A monumental Egyptian pylon gateway rendered in schematic architectural form, with two flanking towers adorned with recessed niches or windows, enclosing within its central gateway two Canopic jars placed side by side on a low podium or altar. The Canopi are depicted with their distinctive ovoid bodies surmounted by heads, representing the sacred vessels associated with Osiris-Canopus. The date regnal legend appears in the field. The design is boldly struck and centrally placed on the flan, characteristic of Alexandrian bronze coinage of the Antonine period.
