| Reverse description | Zeus enthroned left upon a high-backed throne, his body draped, extending his right hand forward to hold a small figure of Nike and grasping a tall sceptre in his left hand. The composition follows the canonical Olympian Zeus type widely employed on Carian provincial bronzes. The magistrate's name and ethnic legend ϹΤΡ ΚΑΛΛΙΠΠΟΥ ΑΠΟΛΛΩΝΙΑΤΩΝ encircles the field within a beaded border. The flan is chipped at the upper left, consistent with the irregular fabric noted on obverse. |
