Obverse description Youthful draped and cuirassed bust of Commodus, seen from rear with paludamentum, laureate, facing right. The obverse legend Λ ΑΥΡΗ ΚΟΜΟΔΟϹ runs around the effigy in Greek characters, identifying the future emperor as co-ruler during the reign of Marcus Aurelius. The portrait exhibits the characteristic youthful features associated with Commodus prior to his sole reign, rendered in the provincial die-cutting style of Carian mints.
