Obverse description Bare-headed, youthful bust of the Demos of Thyatira facing right, portrayed with idealized, classicizing features typical of provincial Greek civic coinage of the Antonine period. The legend ΔΗΜΟϹ ΘΥΑΤΙΡΗΝΩΝ is disposed around the periphery of the flan, identifying the personified people of the city. The flan is irregular and the surfaces heavily patinated, with the portrait rendered in relatively high relief for a provincial issue.
