Obverse description Draped bust of Julia Domna facing right, her hair elaborately coiffed in the characteristic Severan style with multiple ridged waves swept back from the forehead and gathered at the nape. The empress is depicted with finely rendered drapery over the shoulder, and the circular legend surrounds the portrait in the field. The portrait displays the characteristic provincial Greek engraving style of the Phrygian mint at Laodicea ad Lycum.
