Obverse description Laureate, draped and cuirassed bust of Emperor Valerian I facing right, depicted from the rear in the characteristic provincial style. The effigy shows the emperor in military attire with paludamentum visible over the cuirass. A circular Greek legend surrounds the bust within the coin's field. The die work is typical of the Lydian provincial mint at Nysa, with bold if somewhat provincial engraving.
