Obverse description Draped bust of Julia Mamaea, mother of Severus Alexander, facing right, with hair elaborately waved and coiled at the nape in the imperial fashion of the Severan period. The effigy is rendered in the typical provincial Greek style, with the legend encircling the portrait in the field. The surface is heavily patinated, with areas of green and brown encrustation consistent with ancient burial, rendering fine detail partially obscured.
