| Obverse description | Draped bust of Julia Domna facing right, with her characteristic elaborately waved and layered coiffure rendered in fine detail. The empress is depicted bare-necked with drapery visible at the truncation. The Greek legend ΙΟΥΛΙΑ ϹΕΒΑϹΤΗ encircles the portrait, naming her as Julia Augusta. The style is consistent with provincial bronze coinage of the Severan period, struck at Hypaepa in Lydia. |
