Reverse description Artemis, the principal deity of Ephesus, striding vigorously to the right in a dynamic hunting pose, her right hand reaching back to draw an arrow from the quiver slung over her shoulder while her left hand extends forward holding the bow. A hound runs at her feet in the lower field, emphasizing the hunting iconography sacred to the goddess. The reverse type reflects Ephesus's deep religious attachment to Artemis and the city's pride in its neocorate status. The legend encircling the design proclaims the city's double neocorate honor, a mark of prestige within the Roman provincial hierarchy.
