| Reverse description | Tetrastyle temple depicted in elevation, with four columns supporting an entablature and pediment; within the pediment, a disc ornament is prominently displayed. Atop the roof of the temple stands the sacred conical stone (baetyl) of the goddess Mâ, surmounted by a figure of Nike advancing to the right, holding a wreath in her outstretched right hand and a palm branch in her left. The reverse legend, referencing the sacred and neocorate status of Comana Pontica along with the civic era date, is distributed around the field. The composition is characteristic of Pontic provincial coinage honouring the renowned sanctuary of Mâ at Comana. |
