| Reverse description | Tetrastyle temple with four columns depicted in elevation, housing the sacred conical stone (baetyl) of the goddess Mâ, the principal deity of Comana Pontica; atop the baetyl stands Nike advancing to the right, holding a wreath in her extended right hand and a palm branch in her left. A disc is prominently displayed within the pediment of the temple. The reverse legend, arranged around the type, identifies the issuing city and carries the civic era date. The composition reflects the religious significance of the temple of Mâ as the central sanctuary of Comana Pontica. |
