| Reverse description | Tyche standing facing, head turned to the left, wearing a kalathos (modius-like basket crown) as an attribute of civic fortune. She holds a ship's rudder in her right hand and a cornucopia in her left, symbolizing the prosperity and guidance of the city of Aphrodisias. The surrounding Greek legend names the magistrate responsible for the issue and the ethnic of the city. The composition follows the standard typology for Tyche on Carian provincial bronzes of the Severan period. |
