| Obverse description | Draped and diademed bust of Otacilia Severa facing right, her hair elaborately coifed and bound with a diadem, wearing imperial robes. The effigy is rendered in the provincial Greek style characteristic of Ionian civic coinage of the mid-third century AD. A dotted border frames the obverse field. The encircling Greek legend identifies the empress as Augusta, running around the periphery of the flan. |

| Reverse description | Two standing figures face one another in the field, clasping right hands in a dexiosis gesture: at left, a heroic figure holding a spear in his left hand, and at right, the personification of Boule (the civic council) holding a sceptre. The composition, a formal handshake between the city's divine patron hero and its deliberative body, emphasises the civic pride of Metropolis. The scene is set without a ground line, and the surrounding Greek legend, divided around the figures, names the local strategos Aurelius Xestos in his second term as magistrate responsible for the issue. |
