| Reverse description | A river god reclines to the left across the field, his upper body turned slightly to the right, his head supported by his raised right arm which rests upon a shield; a tree rises to the left behind him. The composition follows the standard iconographic formula for river deity types on provincial bronzes of Asia Minor, with the god's semi-recumbent posture conveying the languid flow of the local waterway. The multi-line magistrate legend fills the field and surrounds the type, recording the name and offices of the local strategos and stephanephoros. |
