| Obverse description | Laureate, draped, and cuirassed bust of Pescennius Niger facing right, rendered in a bold provincial style with a short beard. The emperor's effigy occupies the majority of the field, with the laurel wreath rendered in fine detail. The circular legend runs along the outer border within a beaded border, reading ΑΥΤ Κ Γ ΠΕϹΚ ΝΙΓΡΟϹ ΙΟΥϹΤΟϹ ϹΕΒ. The engraving reflects the competent workmanship of the Bithynian civic mint, characteristic of the short-lived Niger coinage struck during his eastern usurpation. |
