Obverse description Laureate and cuirassed bust of Emperor Macrinus facing right, depicted three-quarter from the front, with paludamentum visible at the shoulder. The effigy displays the emperor in full military dress, the laurel wreath rendered in fine detail across the brow. A Greek imperial legend encircles the bust around the periphery of the flan. The strike is somewhat irregular, consistent with provincial hammered coinage, and the surfaces carry a deep green-brown patina characteristic of Ephesian bronzes of this period.
