Reverse description The emperor Hadrian depicted in full military dress, mounted on horseback proceeding to the right, his right hand raised in a gesture of adlocutio or salute. The horse is shown in a dynamic, prancing pose with forelegs raised. The civic abbreviation ΚΥ/ΖΙ (for Cyzicenoi) is divided across the field, with KY to the upper left and ZI in the lower exergual area beneath the horse. The composition is typical of equestrian imperial reverses produced at provincial mints of Asia Minor during the Hadrianic period.
