Obverse description Diademed and draped bust of Empress Tranquillina facing right, her elaborately coiffed hair arranged in layered waves with a diadem, the drapery rendered in fine parallel folds visible at the shoulder and chest. The effigy is depicted in the traditional provincial style of Asia Minor, with a naturalistic portrait rendering characteristic of Gordian-era civic coinage. The Greek legend encircles the bust, reading from upper left around the field.
