| Reverse description | Dionysus standing left in relaxed contrapposto, his right hand extending a cantharus (wine cup) downward and his left hand holding a long thyrsus (ivy-tipped staff). At his feet to the left crouches a panther, the god's sacred animal, gazing upward toward him. The figure is rendered in the classical Hellenistic tradition common to civic bronzes of Mysia. The encircling magistrate legend names the strategus Naevianus and identifies the issuing city of Germe. |
