| Obverse description | Laureate, draped and cuirassed bust of Emperor Gordian III facing right, depicted from a rear three-quarter perspective, presenting the paludamentum and armour in typical provincial style. The imperial effigy is rendered in bold relief characteristic of Ionian civic bronze coinage of the mid-third century AD. The encircling Greek legend reads in the field around the bust. The flan is irregularly shaped, as is common for provincial bronze issues of this period and region. |
