Obverse description Laureate, draped, and cuirassed bust of Emperor Gordian III facing right, rendered in three-quarter view from the rear, with the paludamentum visible over the left shoulder and the cuirass plates articulated in relief. The imperial effigy is set within a beaded border, with the Greek legend distributed around the periphery. The portraiture reflects the characteristic youthful features associated with Gordian III as seen on provincial bronzes of the Carian conventus.
