| Obverse description | Laureate, cuirassed bust of Emperor Commodus facing right, rendered in the provincial Greek style typical of Bithynian civic coinage. The emperor's effigy displays a wreath of laurel leaves crowning the head, with the pauldron and chest armour of the cuirass clearly articulated at the truncation. The encircling Greek legend reads Λ ΑΙ ΑΥΡΗΛΙ ΚΟΜΜΟΔΟϹ, identifying the emperor by his abbreviated titulature. The die-work, though somewhat worn, exhibits the characteristic bold relief of late Antonine provincial bronzes. The flan is slightly irregular, consistent with hand-hammered production at the Prusian civic mint. |
