| Obverse description | Laureate, draped bust of Emperor Antoninus Pius facing right, depicted in the typical provincial style of the Ionian mint at Erythrae. The laureate wreath is rendered in moderate relief, with folds of the paludamentum or drapery visible at the truncation of the bust. The encircling Greek legend surrounds the imperial effigy in the field, distributed along the periphery of the flan. The portrait shows the characteristic mature physiognomy of Antoninus Pius, consistent with issues from the later portion of his reign. |
