| Reverse description | Athena depicted standing left in full figure, clad in chiton and peplos, her aegis visible on her chest. She rests her right hand upon a large round shield set on the ground at her side, while her left hand holds an upright spear. The goddess is rendered in the classical Hellenistic tradition befitting a coin of Nysa in Lydia, a city that claimed special devotion to Athena. A circular Greek legend surrounds the field, naming the local magistrate responsible for the coin's issue. |
