| Obverse description | Diademed and draped bust of Herennia Etruscilla, empress consort of Trajan Decius, facing right and set upon a crescent. The effigy displays an elaborately coiffed hairstyle rendered in the court style of the mid-third century, with the diadem clearly visible above the forehead. The draped shoulder and crescent support are characteristic provincial iconographic conventions of the Ephesian conventus. The surrounding field carries the Greek legend ΕΡΕΝ ΕΤΡΟΥϹΚΙΛΛΑ ϹΕΒ, identifying the subject as Herennia Etruscilla Augusta. |
