Additional information

Philadelphia in Lydia achieved neokorate status — the right to maintain an imperial cult temple — and lost no opportunity to advertise it on civic bronze. The city held this honor under multiple emperors and aggressively pursued renewals, making the archon's name prominent on the coinage a deliberate civic statement about local prestige within the Sardis conventus.

Iulius Ariston Iulianus served as first archon during Alexander's reign, one of a small number of named magistrates recoverable from the Philadelphia civic series.
