| Obverse description | Diademed and draped bust of Julia Mamaea facing right, set upon a crescent, with elaborately waved and plaited hair secured at the nape. The empress is depicted in profile with regal composure, her drapery rendered in fine folds across the shoulder. A partial Greek legend runs along the left field. The bust rests on a crescent, a motif commonly associated with Severan empresses in provincial coinage of Mesopotamia. |
