Obverse description Draped bust of Otacilia Severa facing right, her hair elaborately coiffed and secured with a diadem, the effigy rendered in the provincial style typical of Ephesian civic coinage of the mid-third century AD. A crescent or stephane ornament appears at the base of the bust. The encircling Greek legend reads ΜΑΡ ΩΤΑ ϹΕΥΗΡΑ ϹΕΒ, identifying the empress as Marcia Otacilia Severa Augusta. The portrait is boldly modelled, occupying the greater part of the flan.
