Obverse description Laureate, draped bust of Emperor Pertinax facing right, with short beard, the effigy rendered in the provincial Greek style typical of Bithynian coinage. The circular legend surrounding the portrait reads ΑΥΤ Κ Π ΕΛΒΙΟϹ ΠΕΡΤΙΝΑΞ ϹΕΒ, proclaiming his imperial titulature. The flan is irregular and the dotted border is visible around the inner edge of the field.

The figure stands on a ground line within a dotted border, with the ethnic legend ΠΡΟΥϹΑΕΩΝ distributed around the field, identifying the issuing city of Prusa ad Olympum. The composition is characteristic of provincial civic bronze coinage of the Severan era.
