Reverse description Turreted Tyche, the civic goddess personifying the fortune of Tium, stands facing right, dressed in a long chiton and polos crown, holding a long sceptre in her left hand while extending her right hand to clasp the hand of a togated or himationed male figure standing to the left, who holds a long sceptre. Between the two figures, a lighted altar burns at the centre of the composition, symbolising the bond between the city and its divine protector. The ethnic legend of the Tians is inscribed in the field.
