| Obverse description | Bare-headed bust of Emperor Marcus Aurelius facing right, with possible traces of drapery at the truncation, rendered in the characteristic Antonine style with curly hair and full beard. The portrait fills the obverse field in a large, bold manner typical of provincial bronze coinage from Bithynia. A Greek imperial legend runs around the periphery of the field. The bust displays the emperor's recognizable physiognomy with deeply modelled curls and a philosophical expression consistent with his portraiture from the 160s–170s AD. |
