Obverse description Laureate and cuirassed bust of Emperor Macrinus facing right, depicted from a three-quarter rear perspective, presenting the elaborate pteryges and shoulder guards of the imperial cuirass in fine detail. The legend encircles the bust along the beaded border of the flan, rendered in Greek characters. The portraiture reflects the characteristic beard and mature facial features associated with Macrinus in provincial coinage of Bithynia. The overall style is consistent with the civic mint production of Nicaea during the brief reign of Macrinus, 217–218 AD.
