| Reverse description | Sarapis enthroned and seated to the left, clad in flowing robes, his right arm extended forward above Cerberus, the three-headed guardian of the underworld, who sits at his feet. In his left hand Sarapis holds a long sceptre. The syncretic deity is rendered in the Hellenistic tradition common to Bithynian provincial coinage, and the ethnic legend ΝΙΚΑΙΕΩΝ appears in the field, identifying the issuing city of Nicaea. |
